World Book Day 2024 – appreciating books through dance
West End Schools visit Talbot Primary School every year and share a different story with the children, as part of World Book Week. This year, Year 4 learned the story of The Iron Man by Ted Hughes, allowing the children to combine their love of reading with dance.
The children began by warming up and then, very quickly, began to tell the story through a series of movements. Some of the dance was performed in unison, as a whole class, whilst other sections of the story were given to different groups to interpret and perform.
The final performance pulled all these component parts together and was fantastic to watch. It was a different way to appreciate books.
