Early Years reading spine – ‘Supertato’

One of the Early Years summer term key texts is ‘Supertato’ by Sue Hendra. This has been a favourite throughout the summer term, with children choosing to share it with their friends in their free play, as well as with their key worker during group time.

To support the children’s interest in the story and to enliven it for them, they have also enjoyed some enhancements in Nursery. One of the favourite activities for the children was definitely mashing the evil peas! The children not only used their developing hand and arm muscles to mash the peas and rescue the fruit and vegetables, they also used their imagination and story-telling skills to make up their own short stories. The children also had the opportunity to make their own peas with the play dough before mashing those too.
