Year 6 Results 2021-22
In May 2022, the Key Stage 2 SATs returned after the Covid-19 pandemic, and the pupils completed them under normal test conditions. The Year 6 SATs assessed how confidently pupils were performing in English and Maths. Pupils sat national tests for Reading, SPAG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) and Maths. Standards in writing were teacher assessed over a period of time based on a portfolio of work. Talbot‘s results were significantly above both the national average and local average for Leeds in all subjects.

An alternative way at measuring achievement is to compare the Average Point Score of pupils at the end of Key Stage 2. The national expectation is to score 100+ in each subject (NB: there is no average point score for writing due to the manner it is assessed).

Most schools will have progress scores between -5 and +5. If a school has a progress score of 0 this means that on average their pupils achieved similar results at the end of Key Stage 2 (end of Year 6) to pupils in other schools with similar results at the end of Key Stage 1 (end of Year 2).
If a school has a positive progress score it means that on average their pupils made more progress than pupils in other schools with similar results at the end of Key Stage 1. For example: a score of +3 in reading would mean that on average pupils at the school got 3 scaled score points more in the Key Stage 2 English reading test, compared to other pupils nationally with similar results at the end of Key Stage 1.
A negative score doesn’t mean a school has failed or pupils have made no progress. It just means that on average their pupils have made less progress than pupils in other schools with similar results at the end of Key Stage 1. For example, a score of -4 in maths would mean that on average pupils at the school got 4 scaled points fewer in the KS2 maths test, compared to other pupils nationally with similar results at the end of Key Stage 1.
Year 2 Results 2021-22
The Year 2 SATs assessed how confidently pupils were performing in English and Maths. Children sat national tests for Reading and Maths, which were used to inform the final teacher assessed outcomes. Standards in writing were teacher assessed over a period of time.
