Core Subjects
The core subjects are English (reading and writing), Mathematics and Science. Maths and Science are both taught discretely; this ensures the substantive and disciplinary knowledge is robust. English is sometimes taught discretely and sometimes linked to the Connected Curriculum, so the learning compliments what is being taught in History, Geography, Art and design and Design technology. By intelligently linking specific learning sequences, it develops knowledge, which the children can transfer from one subject to another.
Subject Long Term Plans (LTPs)
The Subject Long Term Plans outline the content that is taught for each subject in our 3-11 curriculum. It includes an overview of what is taught in the Early Years and how this prepares children for Key Stage 1 and then Key Stage 2.
The LTPs have been carefully designed to ensure that children learn and retain the National Curriculum; therefore, it is planned in an systematic, meaningful and relevant manner, that reflects the needs and backgrounds of the school community.
Subject rationales
Subject rationales outline how each area of the curriculum has been thoughtfully deigned to create a learning journey over seven years at Talbot. As such, the rationales can be thought of as our intent for each subject. If you would like to know more, please contact the school on admin@talbotprimary.mlt.co.uk.
