Leadership and communication skills - Problem Solving Day
To finish the first week back at school, Year 5 took part in a variety of team building exercises on the field, led by instructors. These activities involved solving tricky problems together by working as a team, focusing on clear communication and turn taking.
The activities named ‘Toxic Waste’ and ‘Deep Sea’ seemed almost impossible on first glance with limited clues and equipment. However, once the teams began trialling different scenarios and testing different techniques and rotating given equipment, the path to success became clearer. With a lot of hard work, determination, resilience and perseverance, the teams quickly found their stride. Year 5 learnt that having faith in your team, good communication and patience were essential to achieving the end goal.
