World Book Day 2025 - dance workshop of “The Lorax”

The children in Year 2 thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to re-tell the story of ‘The Lorax’ as part of the West End workshops in school this year. At the start of the session, the children were asked to recall events from the story. We discussed the different characters and how the story settings changed once the Onceler had destroyed all of the truffula trees!

“The Onceler destroyed the forest!” - Charlie

“It was bright and colourful but then it was dull and dark!” - Jude

The children listened carefully to the music that accompanied our dance and enjoyed the different rhythms, beat, volume and tempo.

We practiced each section of the dance before putting it together to retell the story. The children were so expressive, worked collaboratively and showed incredible focus during the session.
