First Aid Lessons – developed by St John’s Ambulance

Across school, all children began the year by completing St John’s Ambulance lessons to develop their understanding of First Aid. This is to ensure that they are able to identify when their peers need first aid and will know some simple strategies to help each other when needed.

In Year 4, the children focused on asthma; learning about what asthma is and how it can affect our bodies. Through a range of challenges, the children were able to identify the signs and symptoms for an asthma attack. Through a role-play activity, they were able to put these skills into practice; working through simple steps to ensure the ‘patient’ was cared for and safe.
