Year 6 Jobs – Taking on more responsibility
As the oldest children at Talbot, Year 6 are given a range of roles and responsibilities around school. This allows them to directly make an impact around school, develop their own sense of independence and become good role models for younger children at Talbot.
The Year 6 jobs and responsibilities include:
- Sports Ambassadors, who will help to organise games and activities for KS1 children
- Scrapshed Monitors, who organise the lunchtime equipment for creative learners in KS2
- Register Monitors, who help the school office team set up in the morning
- Tidiness Champions, who monitor and score how tidy each class is weekly for awards in assemblies
- Junior Librarians, who help to encourage a love of reading and recommend books
- Lunch Band Monitors, who help ensure children get the correct lunches
- Well-Being Wardens, who help to promote positive emotional and mental health in school
And there are more to come later in the year.
For some of these roles, the children had to complete an application form, to show that they had the necessary skills. This was great practise for secondary school and future life, as well as being an important opportunity to give something back to the school. This year, nearly every child volunteered to help with something, which was fantastic to see.
