Digital Detox: disconnect to reconnect
This January we held our very first ‘Digital Detox’ week. During this week, we encouraged everyone in our school community to actively cut down their use of Digital Devices and be more mindful about the role these technologies play in our lives. Throughout the week, children considered both the values and risks of digital devices, and learned about the importance of using them responsibly.
There was a buzz around school, as children enjoyed discussing the variety of alternative activities that they had been doing individually and with their families. Lots of children enjoyed telling us how they had felt empowered to encourage their adults to put their phones down too!
We thoroughly enjoyed seeing the fantastic learning log contributions which children had completed from Nursery through to Year 6; from meals that had been cooked, art that had been created, games that had been played and stories that had been written. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm that everyone approached the week with, and brilliant to hear so many positive comments about our experiences. Take a look at the photos to see a little snapshot of the week.
