Dancing to a story – Celebrating World Book Day 2025
As part of World Book Day, Reception brought the story of ‘The Gingerbread Man’ to life through expressive dance.
The West End Dance Company came into school and shared the story; they taught the children different dance moves and expressions to represent the various creatures in the story.
Everyone participated fully and followed the instructions well. The children’s favourite element was learning to “run away from the animals in slow motion” so they didn’t get eaten. Their facial expressions, especially for cunning fox, also helped bring the characters to life and helped the children better understand their motivations.
